Apples

After Apple-Picking by Robert Frost

My long two-pointed ladder’s sticking through a tree
Toward heaven still,
And there’s a barrel that I didn’t fill
Beside it, and there may be two or three
Apples I didn’t pick upon some bough.
But I am done with apple-picking now.

The apple tree in the garden is doing so well this year. I can see it from my kitchen window and it is lovely to watch the birds and squirrels eating the apple drop. Today I shall try and make a pie or two, because not only do I have my own apples but a kind neighbour left me a bag of apples on the doorstep yesterday - to add to the store bought ones I already had. So ...

  1. I found a fruit ladder in our local hardware shop, and bought it to display quilt on. It's new, so I ought to try and age it a bit, but it works really well.

  2. Hi ... what a great idea. I often see them here in London displaying towels and such in shops.
