Fairies At The Bottom Of The Garden
Lady Cottington's photo |
I was trying to think of a gift for a friend who has everything and I fell upon one of my all time favourite books ... Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book by Terry Jones . Do you know it?
Enchanting art work |
The book is a journal of a young ladies (Angelica Cottington) exploits with the fairies at the bottom of her garden. She supposedly 'traps' these enchanting creatures by snapping them shut, and squashing them, in her journal. The art work is sublime and is by Brian Froud who over the years has become famous as a fairy and fantasy artist.
This is so beautiful |
I adore the way the whole book is printed and illustrated and presented.
This is hysterical |
The book is fascinating to both adults and children and I have bought many copies for friends over the years.
Incredible? |
Anyone who loves books will just love this one
Perfectly pressed! |
Please buy me! |
Well now ... Do You Believe In Fairies?

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I think we need to call in CSI Windsor!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I sent the link to a niece in Norway as I thought it would be prefect for her, (and I was right, ) but is it really £25 for the paperback?
ReplyDeleteWaterstones hardcover is the cheapest at £12.99 and all other sellers are around £25 - but difficult to find in stock. I bought four copies as it is such a good gift.
