A New Year Giveaway

75 Birds, Butterflies and Beautiful Beasties
To Knit and Crochet
By Leslie Stanfield

Some of you may remember a Giveaway that I did two years ago of a book by Lesley Stanfield called 100 Flowers To Knit And Crochet. It is an amazing book full of small colourful things, which can adorn an item or simply to make a decoration.  The book is one of my very favourites and I have bought it numerous times for friends and family as a gift. I own a copy myself and frequently use it. The book is full of pretty embellishments and simple ideas to use scraps of yarn. The patterns are all easy to understand as they are written both in text and chart form. This is available on  Amazon.

I love this book

This lovely book has now been superceeded by 75 Birds, Butterflies and Beautiful Beasties To Knit or Crochet by Lesley Stanfield and is once again a real delight. I own a copy myself and am looking forward to making some of the colourful things in the book. The birds and beasties are fabulous.

So this then is to be the prize for one lucky person who does the following ...

1. Tell me one living person that you most admire and the reasons why you do so.
(No family or friends - someone we all would recognize please).   ***

2.  Join my blog and let me know you are a follower.
(You must have a blog that I can visit too, so please leave a link).

3.  Mention this giveaway on your blog and link to me.
     (Thank you).

*** NOTE: One person I so admire is  Camila Batman Ghelidjh an Iranian born charity activist who has devoted her life to the disadvantaged youth in London. The Kids Company cares for over 17,000 children in the London area and her colourful approach is in evidence when dealing with emotionally and physically disadvantaged children and adults. In my eyes she is a superstar!

My Idol - I love her style too!

It is as simple as that!
Prize to be awarded on Monday 21st January.

Ugly Fat Quarters Giveaway

Giveaway

A well meaning friend has just passed on to me some ugly fat quarters that she found in a charity shop. There were two of each of the following ... upon seeing them I realised just why they were there!

Perhaps my friend does not like me!

So there are eight fat quarters of some fairly ugly fabrics up for grabs. (I will not be surprised to get little or no response to this particular post!)

I was thinking about dreadful gifts that I have received in the past and wonder just what awful gifts have you been given?

My most memorable (and disappointing) gift was given to me by my first husband when I had just passed my driving test. I adored 2CV Citroen Dyanes and always felt in my hippie days that I should be driving around in one ... an orange one!

Isn't it cute?

So ... he bought an old and decrepid grey one and unbeknown to me hand-painted it a bright and gorgeous orange and parked it right outside our house ... I was delighted and rushed out into the street and opened the drivers door - which promptly fell off into the road.

The car was undriveable, dangerous and rusty as hell and was immediately sent off to a friend whose parents owned a farm - where it became a chicken coop! I was desolate.

Now just what was your worst present?

Please give us all a laugh and earn yourself some ugly fat quarters by leaving the tale in my message box. We shall laugh at your responses until Sunday 12th and then you too could be the unlucky one to receive yet another ugly gift.

Giveaway Giveaway Giveaway Giveaway

Searching the sites for an interesting    Giveaway    I realized just how exciting they could be, and how they bring new friends together (I love looking up the comments and checking back to see the sites of whoever made them, don't you?).  So ... I decided to have one of my own ... But what to giveaway? And how? And this is what I have decided ...

I would like to  giveaway  the lovely book:

Lesley Stanfield - 100 Flowers To Knit And Crochet

Lovely Prize Book To Inspire You To Knit And Crochet

It is an utterly charming book and  full of quick and easy crochet and knitted flowers ... with lots of projects suitable for all levels. I will also include a little extra craft related  'surprise'  from London for the winner!

And this is what you must do for a chance to win it ... each of the following gives you a chance (ie. you could have  five chances  to win ... PLEASE ... post a separate comment for each of the following - one to cover the lot will not do as each number will individually 'go into the hat' ... or ... 'the random number generator'.    SO DO ONE OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING   ...

1. Post me a comment here and tell me what you will do with the pretty flowers once they are made.

2. Sign up as a follower.

3. Blog about the competition on your site and post a link to my site, and let me know that you have done so.

4.  Tell me which of my postings is the most interesting and why, (this will help me  with my new site as I will get to know what really interests people from the crafting community).

5. Tell me about your favourite blog and why I should want to follow it.

Be sure and leave me an email address to contact you if you are the lucky winner.
Competition closes at midnight (UK time) Monday September 6th 2010.
