Isn't this gorgeous?

The weather has been so beautiful here in London over the weekend that I have had little time at home so consequently no sewing, knitting, cooking, blogging or anything else until today. Today I received my lovely fabric from  gonetoearth  (Anna Maria Horner Lou Lou Thi in Grapefruit "Summer Totem"). I was very excited as I wanted to make a simple A-line skirt from it. I was going to just 'go for it' without a pattern but common sense got the better of me so off to John Lewis and back with this ... a very easy pattern (so they say) ...

A very easy selection of skirts - I chose the black one.

After lots of dithering and a little sewing this was the finished result ...

I just love the fabric

I added some zingy binding to bring out the lime colour

There are so many colour in it

I added an extra dart (I am a UK 14 - the pattern was rather large round the waist)

The zip was not too terrible considering it is years since I tried one on a skirt!

Actually I was rather pleased with myself as it took just a short time and it is now ready to wear. Sadly no one is here to take a photo so you will just have to be satisfied with this for now. The skirt length is just a little below the knee - a fairly flattering style I think on a middle aged lady!

My almost completed baby blanket for tomorrow's knitting circle
It just needs the edge crocheting in the 'Indigo Blue' and the ends woven in
The finished size is approximately 24" x 36"

I found this amazing wool in J.L and am about to see what can be done with it
It is called SMC Select 'Rosas' and is a silk/cotton with raised baubles
It is £5.35 for 50g and very unusual

And this is my next 'easy' sewing project!
Don't you just love the top with the white pants?

I do so miss you - all my virtual friends -  whenever I am away from the computer for a day or two!!
