Four Seasons

These are small quilted panels that I have been working on for a prezzie. Each depicts a season and has been hand quilted and embroidered along with the addition of beads and buttons. I shall join them together and make a season panel for a friend. I pinched the idea from a beautiful book entitled "Material Obsessions" by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke

Winter

 
This is sewn in blues and icy whites with a peppering of pearls and icy crystals. The snowdrops under the tree are crystal buttons with green embroidery. The cat is 'Flossie' a family favourite.

The browns and deep orange signify the end of summer, along with the fallen leaves, and the russet buttons are the fruit depicted at the end of the summer.

Bright fruit adorns the trees and the red buttons add to the sense of fruiting. The bright green and red flowers on the blue background give a summer feel.

I love the spring and this depiction with its bright flowers, buds, and bright greens really give a feeling of spring and promise.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

This is a new beginning for me and my first attempt at a blog. Here I want to share with my friends and family all the wonderful things around me and all the things that interest me about design, crafts, cooking, books, and my life in general. I hope that you will enjoy it! I am lucky to be living in Surrey, near to London, and there is so much going on here, most of it very exciting indeed. Watch this space!
